SOI Asia continues to encourage undergraduate students across the Asia Pacific to explore Internet governance through the APIE Program, connecting foundational learning with opportunities to engage in the wider Internet community.
Recent activities highlight the growing involvement of APIE alumni in international Internet governance forums. At APrIGF 2026 in Kathmandu, Nepal, APIE alumnus Huy Nguyen Nhat from Duy Tan University, Viet Nam, participated as a fellow, exchanging perspectives on digital inclusion, Internet policy, emerging technologies, online safety, and youth participation. He also reconnected with fellow APIE alumni, some of whom are now helping organize the first APIE Camp in Nepal.
More recently, Huy joined other APIE alumni from Indonesia and Nepal at ICANN87 in Bali, participating in the ICANN Fellowship and NextGen@ICANN programs.
Building on its first pilot earlier this year, SOI Asia will launch the second run of the APIE Internet Governance (IG) Core Course in late November 2026. Designed for students from SOI Asia partner institutions, the course introduces key Internet governance topics and encourages learners to explore how they can participate in shaping the Internet’s future.
These initiatives reflect SOI Asia’s continued efforts to connect education with opportunities for students to learn, engage, and contribute to the Internet community.
