The EBA Fieldwork Program is an on-site, immersive experience where participants apply the Evidence-Based Approach to real-world issues. The EBA Diversity Fieldwork 2022 focuses on inclusivity in Japan, exploring the question, “How can Japan become a more inclusive place?” from the perspective of younger generations in the Brazilian community in Japan. Over the course of the program, learners investigate issues related to globalization, immigration, education, career pathways, and access to information in Japanese society.

Participants actively apply the EBA method in practice through evidence-based skills development, field data collection, interviews, online workshops, discussion, and reflection. In collaboration with field masters and local Brazilian junior high and high school students, participants examine the lives, career paths, and future aspirations of Brazilian youth residing in Japan. They also engage with Brazilian families raising children in Japan and Brazilian students attending graduate schools in Japan, connecting primary data with broader questions of inclusion and sustainable society.

By completing this program, learners strengthen their ability to collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, engage with international communities, and propose evidence-based solutions for improving access to educational and career information. The experience deepens their understanding of inclusivity, diversity, and community-based collaboration, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to a more inclusive and sustainable society.
